Are you interested in co-creating a community sanctuary?

If yes, you are invited to join us for a weekend of plant knowledge and renovation projects, while connecting with amazing people and giving back to the land at Roots to Sky Sanctuary, in Oakland, Maryland October 12-16th!

Roots to Sky Sanctuary is a BIPOC founded collective to create a nurturing environment for individuals of diverse backgrounds to experience trauma healing and integration, deep ceremony, personal and spiritual growth and transformation, food and plant medicine cultivation, while building and strengthening the bonds of community and connection to the environment. Nature leads us in a strong divine feminine and masculine integration. The space is multigenerational, and children are both present and involved.

This weekend will be focused on upgrading the facilities and sharing practical earth skills and information on food sovereignty and community resilience. We have experts in wild & edible plants, food forestry, environmental engineering, and natural construction joining us.

This event is made possible in co-creation with
Roots to Sky Sanctuary (https://rootstoskysanctuary.org/),
Plant Path Nursery (https://www.plantpath.org), Love Legion &
Mettā Creative (https://MettaCreative.world)

There are multiple private indoor spaces available. We have about 20 beds available to sleep in, and plenty of additional floor space, in two different big houses. To request a bed, please comment in the event discussion to reserve your spot!

Please bring everything you will want to feel comfortable staying on this beautiful, scenic land nestled next to the Potomac River. It gets cold at night, so bring extra layers! Please clean everything you use and leave the space better than you found it!! Thank you.

Please bring snacks for yourself & others if you would like to share during the day - we will have some members in charge of using the ingredients we both provide and bring together to make some food for us. Some food donations will be provided. Please message us directly with any allergy or dietary concerns/needs/preferences. There will be fresh spring drinking water, showers, and bathrooms available as well.

Here are some of the quests for the weekend:
(not everything will be finished this weekend; we're planning two more events like this before "The Chrysalis")

Arthouse/ Event Space: renovate and finish this future place of magic (and Beauty in the Backyard, "The Chrysalis") while learning about home construction; completing floors, walls & bathrooms

Food Forestry: Learning about natural food forest patterns and designing a plan for high-yield food forests throughout on the land.

Trails System: mapping footpaths for the entire land with how long they are, including identified edible plants, for the guide of the land.

Cabin Rehab: Remodeling and fixing a cabin in the back of the property, spraying and brushing down the interior to give it new life

Greenhouse Construction: help build a greenhouse to start growing food that is protected from birds and other animals

Sample Schedule:
7:00am - Meditation & Yoga
8:30am - Breakfast
9:30am - Introduction & Intention Setting
10:00am - Session Breakouts

We are asking for and encouraging donations of $20-100 to cover costs for food, facilitators and the land. Similar events can cost hundreds of dollars, but we are working to make these experiences more accessible and sustainable. We will not turn anyone away due to lack of funds. Your presence is a gift.
